Dr. S. Subramanyan, the former Vice-Chancellor, Bharathiyar University, has an enormous experience in academics and administration. He has obtained his PG degree in Technology from Manchester, U.K. and Ph.D from University of Madras. Apart from serving in reputed institutions like PSG College of Technology, he has also authored text books on Heat & Mass Transfer Data and CAD/CAM areas. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers also. |

Dr. S. Subramanian is an eminent academician and a distinguished administrator. He has obtained his Doctorate from IIT, Kharagpur, where he served for 18 years. He was a Professor of Computer Science and Engineering and Head of the Computer Center at IIT, Kharagpur. He was also the Principal of Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore, for 5 years. He has guided three research scholars towards their’s PhD’s and has published more than 35 articles in reputed international and national journals. He has visited Russia, Nigeria, Germany and Singapore on professional invitations.
He has been the Chairman of the IEEE Kharagpur Section. His present research interests are Software Engineering, Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence, and VLSI Design and Genetic algorithms. He has been consultant to various public sector giants such as Indian Oil Corporation, Steel Authority of India Limited., etc. He leads the College by example.

Dr.S.Annadurai started his career as an Engineer in ELECOS (Sister Concern of SSL, Chennai) in the year 1976 and after working for 18 months, he joined the teaching profession in March 1978 at Govt. College of Technology, Coimbatore. Subsequently he obtained two Master degrees in Engineering namely, M.E. (computer Science and Engineering) and M.E.(Power Systems) from Govt. College of Technology, Coimbatore and Ph.D degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Anna University, Chennai. After serving for 31 years in various Government Engineering colleges in different capacities like Assistant professor, Professor and Principal, he was promoted as Additional Director of Technical Education and joined in the DOTE office, Chennai on 5th June 2009 and retired from service on 31.5.2011.
As an academician for 33 years, he has contributed considerably to the improvement of Technical Education and a few of his humble achievements are listed below.
- He had established the following three Special Laboratories: (i) Speech Signal Processing Laboratory, (ii) Proxy Server with Internet Laboratory and (iii) Digital Image Processing Laboratory at Govt. College of Technology, Coimbatore, by obtaining a grant to the tune of Rs 33 Lakhs from AICTE, New Delhi. Being a Ph.D degree holder in Computer Science and Engineering, he has made significant contributions to the research activities. He had successfully guided Fourteen research Scholars to receive their Ph.D degrees and three scholars to receive MS (By research) degrees. He has published Fifty one research papers in
International and National Journals and two hundred and fifty nine research papers presented in Nationa and International Conferences.His areas of interest are :Digital Image Processing, Parallel Computing, Neural Networks, Advanced Computer Architecture, Computer Networks and Genetic Algorithms.
- He received Two state Level awards for the Two Hardware project works designed and developed under his supervision.
- He had authored two books namely, (i) Fundamentals of Digital Image Processing (Publisher: Pearson Education, New Delhi, 2007) and (ii) Fundamentals of Network Programming on Hands (Publisher: Prathibha, Coimbatore, 2004).
- Received the Best Research Paper Award for the paper titled “Scalable Secure Internet Group Mailing”,IEEE ACE 2003, 29th Annual Convention and Exhibition, IEEE India Council, Dec 12-14, 2003, Pune.
- He is a member in a few professional societies like ISTE, CSI, IETE, IE and IEEE.
- As the Principal, Government College of Engineering received world bank’s grant for a tune of 10 Croresand successfully implemented Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme ( TEQIP).
- A number of Research Training programmes for faculty members and students have been organized in major areas like Networks, Digital Image Processing, VLSI Design and Circuits, etc under his guidance.
- He has organized a number of Summer/Winter Schools, National Conferences and workshops for faculty of Engineering and polytechnic colleges, sponsored by ISTE/AICTE/DST, etc.
- He has also visited a few leading universities in USA to know about their recent research activities and they are listed below.
- (i) University of Central Florida, Orlando. (ii) Newjersy's Science and Technology University, Newyark. (iii)University of Illinois, Chicago and (iv) University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
- As an Alumni of Govt. College of technology, Coimbatore & Patron of Alumni Association, he obtained permission from the Government to construct an Alumni Building with an outlay of Rs.2 Crores and the work was completed.

Dr. L. Sivakumar obtained B.E (Elect) from REC,Tiruchirapally and M.E in Applied Electronics and Servo-mechanism from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore.He completed his Ph.D in Control System at IIT Kharagpur.He joined in Energy System and new product group of BHEL in the year 1975.
His areas of work are: Mathematical Modeling and Simulation, Training Simulators, Embedded System Applications, Hardware In-loop Testing Simulators, Development of Software Modules for Performance Analysis Diagnostics & Optimization for Thermal, Hydro and Combined Cycle Power Plants.
He has published number of papers in national and international journals
/conferences and has number of software copy rights to his credit. He has worked as member, Apex committee for IT implementation in BHEL, member of Product Committee for Control Equipments, Thermal Systems, Fossile Boilers & Defence Electronics. He has visited USA & Germany on technical missions.
Some of the outstanding professional contributions of him are:
- Development of ‘PADO’ package and commercial implementation in many NTPC Thermal Power Stations.
- Training of Control Constants for major Control System using Virtual Power Plants available at Lab.
- Development of Special Purpose Simulator for Navy.
- Simulator developed under his leadership for Simhadri Power Plant, AP
He has published number of papers in national and international journals / conferences and has number of software copy rights to his credit. He has worked as member, Apex committee for IT implementation in BHEL, member of Product Committee for Control Equipments, Thermal Systems, Fossile Boilers & Defence Electronics. He has visited USA & Germany on technical missions.
He retired from BHEL as General Manager, Corporate R&D Division and joined SKCET in Jan 2008. He promotes industrial consultancy tasks in addition to the normal academic activities. He is also the Vice Principal of the college.
