MISSION & vision

The mission of the department is to provide state-of-art computer education, equip ourselves with the latest trends and skills in the field, keep pace with new inventions and introduce them to our students for study and thereby set the trend for the futuristic Information Technology Education and Research.

COURSES OFFERED

The department offers a 4-Year B.Tech. degree program in Information Technology. The curriculum and syllabi are designed by Anna University. The program is conducted in such a way as to prepare the students to face the challenges of IT and allied industries. The program addresses the needs of IT industry and generates human resources for challenging Positions of System Analysts, Web Designers and Administrators, Software Engineers, Project Consultants, Multimedia and Mobile Communication Experts etc.

Facilities

The department has two well equipped laboratories consisting of the latest P-VI Pentium Systems each having 69 systems for carrying out the day-today laboratory work. A similar laboratory with 66 systems caters to the needs of project work of final year students. The laboratories are well equipped with rich collection of software and Software testing tools. The department has established an intranet named NEWSCASTER on which the faculty hosts tutorials, assignments, class tests, additional learning materials, e-books and online aptitude tests for training the students for better placement opportunities.

Head of the Department’s Profile

Dr. S. Chandramathi, Professor and Head, Department of Information Technology has received her Ph.D. from College of Engineering, Anna University - Chennai. She is having more than 26 years of teaching experience for both UG and PG. Prior to joining the SKCET in 2008; she was working as Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Pondicherry Engineering College and prior to that she has experience at IIT as Project Associate during 1983 – 1985, and at CIT as Lecturer from 1985 - 1987.

Dr. S. Chandramathi’s research interests include Computer Networks, Wireless Communication, Sensor Networks and Digital Communication. She has published 8 papers in International Journals and 40 papers in National / International Conferences.
